M6 task

This task is over mental illness. I chose to interview people who have lived with mental illness and how it has effected their life. For this assignment I decided to talk about depression and substance abuse. I decided to interview two different people on depression. One of these people is my coach. Her testimony is amazing, but prior to Jesus she had it rough. She went through an event in her life that was terrible and she was in a very dark place because of that. Coach Naudin told me a little about what it was like to live with depression and how it effected her everyday life. Coach Naudin told me how one minute she would be fine, she would feel normal, but the next she would be so sad that she felt as if she couldn't even get out of bed.

I also interviewed one of my friends on the softball team. She is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet, however she has struggled with depression almost her whole life. She explained to me some issues she had growing up with her family, and how this led to her depression. She explained how although with Medication, it is able to be managed.

  1. it is great to have counselors to coach and aid people through depression. it is also great to now have medication that assists to stopping depression. it seems like both these people, although have struggled, are stronger now because of it!

  2. This is a great reminder that there is help for depression and people should not be ashamed of it. Both of your examples sound very courageous for what they ahve done to handle with their depression. I like how you said aboiut your coach "prior to Jesus" because it shows how with Jesus we are able to get through things that we struggled with.

  3. I'm really glad that these two people were open about talking about their depression with you, I'm glad that I did as well. I am curious if either of the people you interviewed tried other forms of treatment or if your coach had any other than finding Jesus. I hope that these people have put that in their past and that it has made them stronger people.
