Week 7; Learning

Learning is the process by which life experience causes change in the behavior or thinking of an organism. You adjust your behavior accordingly as consequences hap- pen to you, especially those that result from your own actions. Learning has a lot behind it, It goes with he nature-nurture debate on the nurture side it surrounds all human behavior, and on the nature side it is maturation, which is the cause of some behaviors to take place because the biological side of the person is telling it to. One thing that has been shown to me throughout this chapter is learning is not strictly for humans. Your dog is able to learn things, as well as many different species. Your body and mind is always open to learning new things, the saying "you learn something new everyday" is not wrong at all. You are constantly intaking new things everyday, wether you realize it or not.

One thing that I have learned throughout this chapter is that our brains really are always open to new information. Sometimes in school I feel like I've absorbed all of the knowledge i can, however I still find a way to continue to learn. This is so important because as students we are sent away from home to learn, wether its in a classroom, or out and about with your friends, you are learning things about life, the city you live in, the people you're surrounding yourself with and many different things. I believe that this is a really interesting thing and It is very appealing to me that you are never done learning.

I think being an education major, that this is a really cool thing to take into consideration when in a classroom, wether its myself behind the desk or me teaching children, I will have to learn to be open to many possibilities. Ive always heard that when you have to teach something, you learn it in a deeper and fuller way, therefore I believe that I will have to step back and understand that although i may not have all the answers, no one really does, because were all learning in our own way. This chapter was very interesting to me and helps me grasp the full concept of learning.

  1. Christina, I thought that your blog was very interesting. I really like how you incorporated dogs and other species as an example. I also really liked how you incorporated it into your own life and into your major.

  2. I enjoyed the dog experiment as well. Seeing how animals and humans learn alike and differently was interesting. Also the way are brains continue to absorb information is pretty mind blowing. I think I'm at my max capacity for learning all the time as well, but some how I manage to absorb more. Its remarkable!

  3. You are very right about how we are never done learning. It is good to remember that as you said as some people I have met think they know everything and cant learn more. I think that is so wrong and staying teachable is a great quality

  4. I agree that we are always learning and that we don't ever stop. I have really come to enjoy reading your blogs because you are always able to make deeper connections to what we are studying an relate our learning to your major.
